Supporting Newcomers: ACANS Settlement Program
When newcomers arrive, ACANS is here to help. Our Settlement Support Program offers essential services such as airport pick-up, drop-off, and tailored guidance to ease the transition. We welcome immigrants with open arms, helping them integrate into Nova Scotia life and become active members of the community.
Celebrating Culture: Enculturation for All
ACANS hosts cultural events filled with Cameroonian food, music, regalia, and dance. These gatherings showcase our rich heritage, teaching children born here about their roots and providing nostalgic moments for those who’ve lived it. Through storytelling and celebration, we honor our history and pass it on to future generations.
Fostering Connection: ACANS Sports Programs
Our sports programs promote fitness and unity. From in-house games to inter-community tournaments, we encourage a healthy lifestyle while fostering friendships. These events also serve as a platform to identify young talent, nurturing future stars who may shine on a professional stage.
Sharing Joy and Loss
Life’s milestones are better when shared. ACANS celebrates with expectant parents and offers support when babies arrive. During difficult times, we stand by our members, providing hospital visit support and organizing dignified arrangements through the Retour Au Pays Natale (RPN) insurance program for those who pass away.
Strengthening Bonds: Engaging the Elderly
Our senior members are at the heart of the community. ACANS organizes visits, picnics, and meetings to ease isolation and foster companionship. These initiatives enhance the emotional and social well-being of elderly Cameroonians, ensuring they feel valued and connected.
How to Get Involved
ACANS thrives on the energy and support of its community. If you would like to join us, read the membership requirements here then submit your application form online. You must not be a member to support our exciting activities. You can support us by volunteering, attending events, or donating to sustain our impactful programs.
